Mitragyna speciosa (commonly known as kratom) is a tropical evergreen tree that can reach heights of up to 30m, with a trunk diameter of up to 1m, native to Southeast Asia (Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Papua New Guinea), where it is traditionally used for its psychoactive properties.

In general, red kratom is calming, effectively alleviating discomfort and providing a sedative effect. Green kratom is more stimulating than red, offering longer-lasting effects that enhance mental clarity and endurance, making it popular among athletes and those engaged in physically demanding work. Some users report that it helps manage feelings of anxiety and low mood. White kratom is energizing and uplifting, making it the most stimulating variant. Yellow and Gold kratom refer to drying techniques rather than vein color. Yellow kratom has effects that fall between white and green, while gold is between green and red. Most kratom varieties can induce a mild euphoria.
